The Speaker of the Ekiti State State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, has called on the Federal Government to wake up from its slumber by being proactive towards curbing the excesses of the Fulani herdsmen killing defenseless citizens across the country.
According to a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, on Thursday, Pastor Oluwawole made the call while speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, on the recent. killing of innocent Nigerians in Benue and Taraba states.
He decried the lackadaisical attitude of the Federal Government in taking decisive action on the Fulani herdsmen which he said had led us to the present situation.
Pastor Oluwawole called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the culprits in the killings of Nigerians in the Middle-Belt and other. parts of the country, stressing that an operation like that of the python dance should be inaugurated in the Middle-Belt to check incessant killing of farmers.
The Ekiti Speaker, who expressed confidence that the state governor,
Chief Ayodele Fayose, would turn around the fortune of Nigeria if elected president in the 2019 election, also charged youths in the country to brace up and learn the act of governance “so as to ease out
archaic politicians who cannot move along with new trends.”
He lauded the policy of the Ekiti State governor on youth empowerment,
most especially, the recent policy on local government administration in Ekiti where youths are councilors and chairmen.
Pastor Oluwawole concluded that Chief Fayose would win election in Nigeria any day and anytime, “because his politics has endeared him to the hearts of average Nigerians.”
“Governor Fayose has demonstrated that he is more than capable of ruling Nigeria, and I have no doubt in my mind that he will win the presidential election if the umpire the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) conducts a free and fair election” Oluwawole
stressed.
