A delegation sent by Sat Guru Maharaj Ji on Friday paid a condolence visit to the family of slain Ibadan journalist, Ojo Peters, at their residence in Siba, Apata area of Ibadan.
Peters, publisher of Daily Monitor online newspaper and media aide to Maharaj Ji, was killed in a daylight armed robbery at Oke-Ado, Ibadan, on August 18, 2025.
The delegation, which conveyed Maharaj Ji’s condolence message, was received by the widow, Mrs. Olubunmi Peters, and the couple’s two daughters, Blessing (15) and Ajibola (9).
Mrs. Peters, who described the family’s ordeal since the incident, appealed to the Oyo State Government and the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) to come to their aid, stressing that the death of her husband had left them in emotional and financial distress.
She recounted how the late journalist was trailed from a bank by armed robbers, shot three times in the stomach, and left to die despite surrendering his bag.
Tears flowed freely during the visit when nine-year-old Ajibola displayed a drawing she made in memory of her father, with the inscription “Rest in Peace Dad, RIP.”
Mrs. Peters expressed appreciation to Guru Maharaj Ji for his support since the tragedy and renewed her call for government and NUJ intervention to support the bereaved family.
