A young man, Opeyemi Araoye, has been abducted by unknown gunmen in the Awe area of Oyo Town, Oyo State. The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, January 29, 2025, around 1:00 AM.

According to Alhaji Tijani Oladimeji his nephew, the assailants forcefully entered the compound, fired a gunshot into the air, and took Araoye to an undisclosed location.

Later that day, at about 12:30 PM, the kidnappers contacted the victim’s father, initially demanding a ransom of ₦40 million before increasing it to ₦100 million.

The community promptly alerted the Awe Police Station, but by the time security operatives responded, the kidnappers had already fled with the victim. The family has since filed an official report with the police.
