A group under the aegis of Advocate for Good Governance in Ogooluwa /Surulere Chapter has enjoined the good people of Ogooluwa /Surulere Federal Constituency to return the incumbent lawmaker representing the constituency in the House of Representative.
This is coming amidst assessment tour of the group conducted to the two Local Governments that made up the constituency few days ago. The group opined that the landmark achievements of Hon Olusegun Dokun Odebunmi is enough to earn him return votes to the hallow chamber for the fourth term.
While the group was taken a cursory look at series of monumental achievements of Hon Odebunmi between 2019 till date, they are convincingly satisfied with level of progress and advancement the constituency has witnessed recently, the achievements which spans through all facets of both the constituents and constituency as a whole.
In area of lawmaking which is the statutory obligation of a lawmaker, Hon. Olusegun Odebunmi has shown his leadership and lawmaking prowess by sponsoring series of viable bills and motions, among the bills sponsored which is the “Bill for an Act to Provide for the Mandatory Inclusion of Cassava and Shogurm in the Production of All Flours in Nigeria”, this bill aims at curtailing the poor management and wastage that ensues from ineffective management of those concerned food crops as well as boasting the nation’s potentials in terms of economic growth and dividends to the young farmers.
In the same vein, as the Chairman House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and values, Hon Odebunmi through his leadership prowess has sponsored “A Bill for an Act to Amend the National Broadcasting Commission Act Cap. N11, LFN 2010 to Strengthen the Commission and Make the Commission More Effective in Regulating Broadcasting in Nigeria to capture the Current Realities in the Industry, Including Digital broadcasting in Nigeria. The bill which has however strengthen and advance our broadcasting industry from analog to digital.
Hon Odebunmi also among series of motion moved in the floor is the abandoned Ogbomoso-Oyo segment of the awarded Ilorin-Ibadan express way. This was moved to call attention of the Federal Ministry of Works and the Federal Government to the abandonment of the road with a view to ensure budgetary provision for its completion”. The road due to its awkward situation has constituted a death toll to the travellers en-routing the affected cities in the past before Hon. Odebunmi moved a motion in that regards, the road has now seen the presence of the Federal Government.
In terms of capital projects, the assessment tour conducted across the wards has it that the constituency is having a vibrant and responsible representative, communities like Iranyin, Biro, Gambari, Asawo among others and not less than 26 communities have been connected to the National Grid, only a few are yet to be connected and they have reached advanced stage of completion.
In terms of Solar Powered Street lights, communities like Odo-Oba, Ibeere, Oniru, Elega among others have benefited from representation of the incumbent lawmaker, not less than 70 communities have felt the medal touch of Hon Odebunmi in the Solar Powered Street Lights installation. Likewise in water projects, about 70 communities benefited from water projects both solar powered borehole and motorized one, communities like Yakooyo, Idi- ori, Ile Abu in Odo-oba, Ipasa, Oniru among others benefited from representation of the competent lawmaker.
Furthermore, in Education sector, Hon. Odebunmi facilitated blocks of classrooms and ICT facilities to ease the learning process of indigent students, in some occasions, many students have also benefited from free WAEC and JAMB registrations offer of the vibrant lawmaker, organizing periodic inter schools quiz and debate competition within the constituency and apart from handsomely rewarding the best schools in materials and cash, all participated schools across the constituency also have their own take home gifts.
More so, Hon Odebunmi under his viable representation has empowered not less than 5,000 constituents through his capacity building, skill development, entrepreneurship training and empowerment scheme, this is achieved in form of offering laptops and digital cameras, giving micro loan to Small Scale Medium Enterprises, provision of working tools for different artisans and giving empowerment materials to the constituents, the one conducted recently has knapsack sprayers, sewing machines, motor cycles, deep freezers, hair dryers among other empowerment items. Most especially in capacity building, constituents do need to embark on training for days without shifting the overhead training cost on the participated constituents.
Moreover, Hon. Odebunmi as a representative with uncommon leadership ethos through his leadership prowess as Chairman House Committee on information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values wields his influence to facilitate Ogo’lu FM in Oko, Surulere Local Government, Oyo State as constituency Project, the first gigantic constituency Project ever, which has made Oyo State to house two Federal Broadcasting stations, upgrading of NTA Ogbomoso with provision of new transformer and modern digital transmitter, this has strengthen the transmission process within Ogbomoso region and suburbs.
Hon Olusegun Odebunmi has also pushed teeming constituents for employment opportunities in various government agencies, such as Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigerian Custom Service, NSCDC, Federal Road Safety, Nigerian Television Authority, DSS, National Museum and Emoluments, Federal Institutions, Federal Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN) among others, as well as cohort the constituent to Federal Government Board, a move that serves as an eye opener to having a vibrant representative at the Federal Level.
However, the group who conducted the inspection tour to various wards in the constituency aims at determining performance level of the incumbent lawmaker, the group however was satisfied with efforts of the incumbent lawmaker who has employed his leadership prowess to turn around situations in the constituency.
Sequel to this, the group is therefore calling on good people of Ogooluwa /Surulere Federal Constituency to jettison sentiment and parochial interests by allowing this God fearing representative to continue representing the constituency in the hallow chamber for one more tenure, this is the time to feel the heavy weight of Federal Government in our domain, we must make judicious use of the moment to tap the golden opportunity.
The group hereby cautioned the opposition and its agents who may be jostling for the same seat to allow the incumbent lawmaker to continue his good works most especially this time that we’re agitating for a principal post in our region, because what is good for goose is also good for gander, we must not allow selfish political agenda to overshadow our collective mandate of advancing our region, and we’re confident that this is the right time to achieve that, Hon Olusegun Dokun Odebunmi has not relented and he is still promising to bring more dividends to his constituents and constituency as a whole.
The statement which was signed by the secretary of the group Prince Adeniyi Adedokun urged the people of Ogooluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency not to succumb to the political antics of the opposition, stressed that Hon. Odebunmi is still the most experienced and competent contestant among other contenders
