The Ogun Central Young Professionals Forum has appealed to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at both state and national levels to consider Hon. Dr. Olamide Davies Talabi for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
The appeal was made by the forum’s coordinator, Mr. Shomoye Ademola, during a chat with journalists on Thursday.
He urged leaders of the ruling party, including the President and other key stakeholders, to give careful attention to Talabi’s aspiration in the interest of fairness, competence, and development of the senatorial district.
Ademola explained that members of the forum come from different political backgrounds but decided to unite behind the call because the matter affects the collective future of the people of Ogun Central.
According to him, since the APC remains the leading political party in the country and Talabi is a committed member of the party, it would be in the best interest of the district for the party leadership to give her aspiration serious consideration.
“We want to make an open appeal to the President and leaders of the APC at both local and federal levels to look into our request in this political dispensation. We may belong to different political parties, but this issue concerns all of us as citizens of Ogun Central Senatorial District,” he said.
Ademola noted that Talabi’s qualities, experience, and humanitarian record motivated members of the forum to rally support for her.
“We know her pedigree. She served as a three-time commissioner in the United States of America. The good work that qualified her for such an enviable position in a foreign land is exactly what we want her to replicate in our senatorial district,” he said.
He added that her exposure to a functional governance system would bring fresh ideas and practical solutions to the development challenges facing the district.
“Her wealth of experience in a system that works needs to be implemented here in Ogun Central Senatorial District. The record is there for everyone to see. That is why we believe the time has come to give someone with global exposure and competence the opportunity to serve,” he added.
Ademola also highlighted Talabi’s longstanding contributions to community development in Ogun State, noting that she has remained consistent in humanitarian and empowerment initiatives over the past 13 years.
According to him, she has supported petty traders to boost their businesses, donated computers to schools, and distributed food items across the three senatorial districts of the state.
“These acts clearly show her passion for the welfare and development of the people,” he stated.
The forum therefore called on party leaders, traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and political actors across Ogun Central to rally behind Talabi’s aspiration, expressing confidence that her leadership would usher in a new era of effective representation, development, and empowerment for the people of the senatorial district.
