The Osun State Government has debunked reports suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke is planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or align with members of the party ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election.
In a statement issued on Thursday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that he remains a loyal member and will contest and win the 2026 election under the party’s platform.
“Our attention has been drawn to news reports and media enquiries about the alleged defection or alliance of Governor Adeleke with ADC leaders ahead of the 2026 governorship race. There is no truth whatsoever in those publications and speculations,” the statement read.
The spokesperson further clarified that:
“First, the Osun PDP has already adopted and endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. Therefore, there is no existing or proposed alliance with ADC.
Secondly, Governor Adeleke has no alliance or pact with any figure within the ADC. He is firmly rooted in the PDP, will run under the PDP banner, and does not require any coalition to secure victory with a wide margin in the 2026 election.”
He emphasized that the Governor continues to enjoy broad support across Osun State due to his performance in office, adding that the people are eager to sustain the progress through his re-election.
“The people of Osun are solidly behind Governor Adeleke because of his impressive record of governance. That work continues, and so does their support,” Rasheed said.
He also urged party members to remain focused on strengthening PDP structures across all levels in preparation for another electoral victory next year.
