Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has firmly dismissed speculation about his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring his unwavering commitment to the party and its ideals.
Speaking during a closed-door stakeholders’ meeting held Tuesday night at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Adeleke stated unequivocally, “I am not defecting to APC or any other political party. I remain in PDP. Ignore any fake news.”
The strategic meeting brought together party leaders, elders, federal and state lawmakers, and top officials of the PDP. Former governor Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola addressed the gathering virtually, while Prof. Wale Oladipo, Chairman of the Imole Movement, reaffirmed the PDP as a political home for all loyal Osun indigenes.
Other notable figures at the meeting included Senator Oluwole Alabi, a life member of the PDP Board of Trustees, and Hon. Lasun Yusuf, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. Both described the PDP as a party of development and empowerment.
The stakeholders’ forum, coordinated by PDP State Chairman Hon. Sunday Bisi and attended by House Speaker Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, passed a vote of confidence on Governor Adeleke. A communique issued at the end of the meeting re-endorsed him as the party’s sole candidate for the 2026 governorship election.
Among the resolutions were commendations for the governor’s leadership, acknowledgment of developmental strides across sectors, and support for the state party’s handling of the local government leadership crisis. The forum also condemned recent defections from the party, hailing the loyalty of the Oriade/Obokun federal constituency.
The meeting concluded with a message of optimism regarding the national PDP’s internal reconciliation efforts, expressing confidence in the party’s readiness for future electoral victories.
