The Youths in IMO State have never had it this good in years and this is evidently the dividends of democracy they craved for as the Governor splashes N4Billion naira on about 15,000 youths from the 27 local government areas of the state.
Youth empowerment is one of the cardinal programs of Governor Hope Uzodinma and he is living up to his words by fulfilling his electoral promise by given N250,000 to 15000 beneficiaries.
Unemployment and idleness has been identified as some of the causes of criminality and vices in the society with this empowerment, it is obvious that the 15,000 youths will become peace ambassadors in the state and a good step at taming the waves of insecurity in the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy Declan Emelumba, in a statement, said the gesture was in fulfilment of the governor’s promise to alleviate poverty and reduce crime in the state.
According to him, because of the correlation between unemployment and crime, Uzodimma is determined to take many Imo youths out of the streets.
He said the youths who have received training in fashion designing, barbing, hairdresser, phone and electrical repairs, among other skills, would also train their peers.
This is a good development towards the prosperity agenda of the governor as encapsulated in the 3RS of rehabilitation, recovery and reconstruction agenda and a great hope of greater tomorrow for the IMO Youths.
