The centre is a modest facility that will serve as a rehabilitation centre for people who abuse drugs, especially the young people in Ogbomoso and its environs.
It was constructed by Ogbomoso First group, a socio- cultural group of influential Indigenes of Ogbomoso to stem the increasing tide of usage abuse of drugs in Ogbomoso and its environs.
Located in Oke Osuru area of Ogbomoso South local government
facilities at the wel equiped centre includes, counselling room, intelligence room, waiting area, group discussion room, residential area and others which will be manned by expert and the operation will be in collaboration with the NDLEA
The Association President Barrister Olusegun Adekunle said the project is one of the ways of influencing positive development in Ogbomoso.
Otunba Bayo Babatunde a former president of the association while speaking on the essence of the project in a chat with National Insight said we notes that the high rate of consumption and abuse of various drugs and substances, which are inimical to the health of the consumers, is a visa to madness and collapse of the future development of our youth population most of who have become addicted and now constitute societal menace,”
“The situation is worrisome, especially when you consider the attendant potential insecurity of lives, properties and most especially the future of the community when majority of the youths are drug dependent,”As a remedial measure, we have been involved in the implementation of socio-economic development programmes for our community and the state at large through the empowerment of indigent people.
