GAWE 2021: CSACEFA Advocates Increase in Budgetary Allocation to Education in Oyo

A non governmental organization, Civil Society Action Coalition on Education For All (CSACEFA) has urged the Oyo State Government to increase financing in the State’s education.

This was contained  in a press statement Signed by the Coordinator  CSACEFA, Oyo State Dr Olubukola Olatunji to commemorate the 2021 Global Action Week For Education (GAWE), which was tagged with the theme “More and Better Financing for Education”

The coordinator  highlighted the pathetic situation of education globally, how over 124 million children are out of school and 250 million are not learning basic skills because of poor quality education.

He also identified how the COVID 19 pandemic has made the matter worse by stopping or interrupting about 1.5 billion learners from accessing education.

Hence, that the harmful effect of the pandemic on the education of children is not evenly distributed as the poorest countries and the poorest persons within these countries are worst affected.

He however, stressed on the need for Government to make better welfare for teachers and also make education accessible and affordable to all.

He emphasized on the need for Oyo State Government to increased financing delivery timely usable points; increase activities localising more financing for education by domesticating at the grassroots involving local communities and organizations.

He pleaded with concerned stakeholders in making schools to strive without hindrance and making learning environment based on global best practices.

It should be noted that GAWE as been commemorated since 2003 is to ensure that the world achieve the SDG4- “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all” by 2030.

Also, CSACEFA Oyo State, in line with the ‘One Billion Voices campaign’ of the Global Campaign for Education has listed series of activities for the week, which includes; Delivery of ADVOCACY LETTER to major Stakeholders during an Unscheduled Visit, Release of the next Edition of EDUVOICE and the Online Campaign and Sensitization on why and how for More and Better Financing for Education.
