The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Osun State Sector Command, has partnered with the Osun State Ministry of Works to sensitise motorists on the proper use of the newly constructed Oke-Fia Flyover in Osogbo ahead of its commissioning.

The enlightenment exercise, held on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, featured a joint press interview and an on-site inspection led by the Sector Commander, CC Leye Adegboyega, fsi, alongside two senior officials of the Ministry of Works — Engr. M.A. Ojebode, Director of Highways; and Engr. Olalekan O. Salami, Director of Policy, Research & Statistics.

The media engagement, anchored by Mr. Olabode Arewa of Rave FM 97.1 Osogbo and Mr. Tunde Iyanda of Agidigbo FM 88.7 Ibadan, focused on safety expectations, structural features of the flyover and its anticipated impact on traffic management within the Osogbo metropolis.
Responding to questions on anticipated street hawking under the flyover, Engr. Ojebode assured that the Ministry would work closely with security agencies to prevent activities capable of obstructing traffic or endangering road users. He also emphasized that solar-powered streetlights were installed as part of the project to address night-time safety and visibility concerns.
On his part, Engr. Salami confirmed that the flyover was designed to accommodate four lanes of traffic, including trucks and articulated vehicles. He noted that traffic studies conducted by the Ministry showed that the Oke-Fia axis is a major connecting corridor with heavy vehicular movement, making the flyover essential for easing congestion and improving travel time.
Sector Commander Adegboyega revealed that the FRSC collaborated actively during the construction phase by deploying personnel daily to manage traffic flow, prevent gridlock, and ensure safety around the construction site. He added that a pre-construction road audit carried out by the Corps validated the necessity of the project as a critical infrastructure for the state capital.
He further urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic lights installed on the flyover, avoid speeding, overloading, wrongful overtaking, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure safe and efficient usage of the new facility.
Following the interview, the officials embarked on a physical inspection of the flyover, during which further clarifications were provided to the press and members of the public present.
The joint effort is expected to enhance public understanding of the flyover’s relevance and promote safer road culture once it is declared open for use.
