his assurance comes after a critical meeting led by the Acting Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander Femi Adeyemo, and the Command’s operatives, emphasizing the road’s significance during the peak travel season.

In line with the Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed’s vision for a zero road traffic death environment, FRSC Oolo has articulated its commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users.

The Operation Zero initiative for the year 2024, aimed at drastically reducing road fatalities, is set to run from 15th December 2024 to 15th January 2025.

The Oyo-Ogbomoso route is known for its high incidence of road traffic crashes (RTCs) and obstructions (OBS). To counter these challenges, the Command has outlined a series of strategic measures following a brainstorming session focused on local solutions:

– Traffic Control at Flashpoints: Operatives will be deployed to manage traffic at known flashpoints, including Elega, Adetunji, Idi-Ede, and Odo-Oba, which have been identified as high-risk areas for RTCs and OBS.

– Emergency Response Team: A dedicated emergency team will be on standby to respond swiftly to any incidents affecting road users.

– Traffic Management System: Personnel will be assigned to manage traffic flow during periods of gridlock, ensuring lane discipline and alleviating congestion.

– Increased Visibility: The presence of FRSC staff and equipment will be heightened along the road, particularly in critical situations to ensure enhanced visibility for road users.

– Intelligence Transport System: Real-time monitoring of traffic conditions will be implemented to devise effective strategies for improving traffic flow to and from Oolo town.

On 2nd October 2024, Ag. Unit Commander Femi Adeyemo and other staff conducted extensive road monitoring along both the old and new Oolo-Ogbomoso routes, identifying blackspots and blindspots to further enhance road safety in preparation for the Ember Months.

As the festive season approaches, the FRSC Oolo Command strongly advises road users to exercise caution and adhere to road safety protocols. They are encouraged to embrace the 2024 Ember Month campaign theme: “Speak Up Against Dangerous Driving: Crashes Kill More Passengers Than Drivers.”

Stay safe and travel responsibly this holiday season!
