As part of its nationwide Easter Special Patrol Operation, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Oolo Unit Command on Wednesday, April 16, extended its road safety awareness campaign to Ajawa town, located along the busy Oyo-Ogbomoso highway.

The campaign, led by Acting Unit Commander CRC Femi Adeyemo (pjsc), focused on sensitizing residents, executives of the Park Management System (PMS), and market leaders on safe road practices during the Easter period.
The initiative, according to the Unit Command, is in line with directives from the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, and operational strategies outlined by Assistant Corps Marshal Hyginus U. Omeje. The aim is to enhance public education and reduce road traffic crashes through effective community engagement.
Addressing participants at the campaign, Adeyemo emphasized that road crashes are largely preventable and urged motorists to adopt best driving practices. He noted that the Easter season, often associated with increased vehicular movement, demands extra caution from all road users.

“Easter is not a naturally tragic period,” he said, “but the spike in traffic volume often leads to impatience and risky behavior on the road. We must change that narrative.”
Adeyemo also revealed that operational equipment, including patrol vehicles, reflective jackets, and traffic cones, had been fully deployed for the special patrol. He added that the Command’s Closed User Group (CUG) communication system would aid in real-time information sharing and intelligence-based traffic management.
He acknowledged the consistent support of the Oyo State Sector Commander, CC RUK Alo, for her leadership in ensuring smooth operations across the state.
The Ajawa community was advised to avoid speeding, reckless driving, and other violations of traffic laws. Adeyemo reiterated that a crash-free environment is achievable through strict compliance with road safety regulations.
Highlighting Goal 1 of the Corps’ Corporate Strategic Goals for 2025, he pointed out that most fatal crashes recorded in the area were due to common traffic infractions. He urged drivers to change their attitudes, especially as the recent palliative work on the Oyo-Ogbomoso road now allows for smoother movement.
The awareness campaign, he said, forms part of a broader strategy to reinforce public education, reduce traffic incidents, and promote safer roads during the festive season.
FRSC Oolo also reminded residents of its previous house-to-house campaign against petrol scooping, launched in January 2025, which contributed to a significant drop in road fire incidents and crashes in the area.
Residents were encouraged to celebrate Easter peacefully and responsibly, with the assurance of FRSC’s continued commitment to safe and efficient traffic management within its jurisdiction.
