Iyamopo Hill is one of the 16 hills located in Igbeti ,Olorusogo local government of Nigeria. The estimate terrain elevation above seal level is 513 metres. Latitude: 8°43’59.99″ Longitude: 4°7’59.99″. The hill is a tourist attraction and a great potential that can generate income for the government , the hill has an historical background and the people of Igbeti do climb to the peak to celebrate the festival ON Easter Mondays
IKERE GORGE DAM
Ikere Gorge Dam is a major earth-fill dam in Iseyin OkeOgun area of Oyo State, it has a reservoir capacity of 690 million m3 and planned to generate 3750 MW of electricity, to supply water to local communities and Lagos State and to irrigate 12,000 hectares of land. It was Built in 1983
ADO AWAYE SUSPENDED LAKE
Ado Awaye suspended lake/ hanging lake lies about 20km West of Iseyin, Iseyin Local Government Area of Oyo State. The suspended lake is housed on one of the crests of rocks commonly referred to in surveyor’s language as the “sleeping lion”. Similarly, the 350 steps leading to the top of the hill housing the suspended/ hanging lake takes about an hour to climb. The route to the lake contains many shrines and notable historical spots that make a tourist delight.
OLD OYO NATIONAL PARK
Old Oyo National Park, the park which was named after the Old Oyo – the political capital of the Oyo Empire between the 16th and 18th centuries, spans a remarkable 2,512 sq km (970 sq mi), most of which fall in Oyo State, some extends to Kwara State.The park, which is made up of two previous native administrative forest reserves – the Upper Ogun (1936) and Oyo-lle (1941) Forest Reserves, are unique ecosystem and historical relics converted to game reserves in 1952 and finally upgraded to the present status of a National Park.
AGBELE ROCK – IGBETI
Oke Agbele is another site with historical background in Igbeti, According to historians structure came into existence in the early 19th century when a powerful and popular woman in the town with a baby on her back went to a rocky side of the town to steal yam flour where the Igbeti people usually dry their yam flour by sunlight. However, on discovering that she has been sighted by the night guards, she instantly turned into a rock in order to avoid shame and embarrassment.
