Few days after two persons working in his chamber were killed by suspected hired killers, a gang of armed men yesterday reportedly stormed the Oluyole Estate, Ibadan, residence of a prominent lawyer, Barrister Olumuyiwa Afolabi.
Although the Ibadan-based lawyer and his family members escaped death, as they were not at home when the dare-devil hoodlums visited, his security dogs were shot dead.
It would be recalled that a security guard, one Mr. Sunday John, and Secretary, Miss Sandra Kingsley, working in Barrister Afolabi’s chamber were recently found dead within the premises of the chamber, located also in Ibadan.
In his Save Our Soul message, Barrister Afolabi maintained that the attacks on his chamber and residence might not be unconnected with the case of assassination of Hon. Busari Adelabu, that he is investigating.
The legal practitioner revealed that he has received series of life threatening messages from unknown persons, since he started assisting the police to investigate the murder of Hon. Adelabu, who was assassinated in 2014.
While calling for police protection, Barrister Afolabi explained that before the attacks on his chamber and residence, some unknown persons had been calling to warm him to desist from further investigation into the murder case.
“I am using this medium to call on the Nigerian Police and other security agencies to come to my rescue. Myself and my entire family members can no longer sleep with two of our eyes closed. I have been receiving series of threats against my life, family members and workers. Initially, I thought they were mere threats, but in the last few days, I have got to realize that these people mean business”, he lamented.
The Ibadan-based lawyer stated Late Adelabu was his client, and he strongly believed that one day, long arm of the law would catch up with the killers of the late grassroots politician.
