The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has refuted circulating reports claiming that all government schools in the FCT were directed to close on November 28, 2025, describing the information as false and unfounded.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, clarified that “no such decision was taken at any level of the administration.”
Olayinka also announced that the Minister has ordered the immediate suspension of the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo. Similarly, the Acting Head of Service, Mrs. Nancy Sabanti Nathan, has been instructed to take disciplinary action against the Director of School Services, Mrs. Aishatu Sani Alhassan, in line with civil service rules.
The administration described the viral report on early school closure as misleading and urged parents, students, and school administrators to disregard it, emphasizing that the approved academic calendar remains unchanged.
The FCTA further assured residents—especially students—of adequate security, noting that the Minister has directed the resumption of Operation Sweep and other security interventions across the nation’s capital.
