The family of the late Brigadier-General Benjamin Adesanya Maja Adekunle has announced plans for a series of memorial events to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his passing.

Gen. Adekunle, a distinguished soldier, was renowned for his leadership in reclaiming the Delta and riverine areas of Nigeria from Biafran forces during the Nigerian Civil War and clearing the Nigerian Ports during the cement armada which cause congestion at the ports.

The events are set to take place, primarily, in Ogbomoso, Oyo State—a city dear to Gen. Adekunle as a reflection of the deep respect he held for the city and its people during his lifetime.

The memorial tributes will begin on Saturday 14th September with the 10th Memorial Golf Kitty, scheduled to be held at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club.
This will be followed by a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, (10:00am) on September 15, 2024, at St. David’s Anglican Cathedral, also in Ogbomoso.
