A former commissioner of justice and attorney general in Oyo state, Asiwaju Mutalubi Ojo Adebayo has commended the decision of Oyo state government to hand over Government College Ibadan to old boys association to manage, operate, and develop.
Ojo said the development is a very commendable policy
The government and the Incorporated Trustees of the GCIOBA, signed an agreement in response to the Old Boys Association’s request to manage, operate and develop the school in order to maintain and sustain its legacy.
A copy of the agreement indicated that the GCIOBA’s desire to maintain and sustain the preeminent status of the institution, founded in 1929, coincided with the Governor Makinde administration’s policy to designate some secondary schools in the state as schools for gifted students.
According to the agreement, GCIOBA will be granted “the right and authority during the term of this Agreement to manage, operate and develop GCI in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Agreement.”
In a letter ,entitled RE-OYO GOVERNMENT SET TO HAND OVER GCI TO OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION,
dated this 24th day of March, 2022
Ojo to appealed to Governor Makinde, the to kindly further continue with this great policy by hand over other public schools to other interested alumni associations, community associations and also religious / faith institutions who are equally interested in managing , operating and developing their schools and institutions.
The letter which was obtained from his facebook page reads further “This is the way to go in view of the dwindling revenues and resources of the governments at all levels and ever increasing demands of the government needs and provisions.
“Once again, i salute GSM on this Policy”
