The former Vice-Chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Prof. Wale Are Olaitan, will be laid to rest on Friday, April 4, 2025, in his hometown, Ijebu Igbo.
A statement issued by the Olaitan family confirmed that the late professor will be buried at a private internment following a funeral service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 79 Adeboye Road, beside Ansarudeen Central Mosque, Oke Sopen, Ijebu Igbo.
According to a statement signed by Kemi Olaitan on behalf of the Olaitan Gbolade Family ,the service is scheduled for 11 a.m.
Prof. Olaitan, a distinguished scholar in Political Theory and State-Society Relations, held various leadership positions at OOU, including Head of the Political Science Department, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, and ultimately became the first alumnus to serve as Vice-Chancellor.
He passed away on Monday, March 24, at the age of 60.
The family expressed gratitude to colleagues, associates, and well-wishers across Nigeria and beyond for their messages of condolence and support.
