The son of the immediate past Minister of Health, Dayo Adewole has narrated his ordeal in the hands of his abductors and how he was released without paying a ransom.
Dayo was abducted by unknown gunmen, on Tuesday evening in his farm located at Iroko, near Fiditi, Afijio local government of Oyo state.
The victim while speaking with journalists on Thursday at the headquarters of the Oyo State Police Command, in Eleyele, Ibadan said that he and his farm workers were just about leaving the farm when the gunmen came and carried him away.
‘The gunmen were about four, my driver was panic immediately he saw them, I jumped out of the car to ran for my safety, the kidnapper chased me until they catches up with me, when I was caught, they took me to the farm office where they collected all the sales money in the office, after that, they drove me away in a car to the bush and they were just patrolling around the bush all that night till the following morning, when they find that they couldn’t get anything from me again, they released me around 7:30am the following day without paying any ransom, although I was sometimes beaten up.”
“When i was released, I found my way to a village which the villagers directed me to the express way where I can get a motor, on getting to the road, I met a bike man who later took me back to Iroko village where my farm was located, so people there gave me their phone which I used to called my people before they later came to picked me up.”
The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu noted that the abductors were not able to pin the victim down because they thought he might either be a son of a Senior Police Officer or a son of a Senior Military Officer, adding that, that was why Dayo was released on time
