The re-election bid of Governor Seyi Makinde on Tuesday received another major boost as 130 elected councilors and appointed officials across the 33 local governments during the administration of late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi pledge their support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The forum led by its chairman, Hon Adesoji Adesokan mobilized 130 members of the forum to the residence of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde and pledged their support for his re-election bid.
Speaking of why the group adopted the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Hon Adesoji said:
Though they were in APC till 2022 when Teslim Folarin hijacked the party structure and sent the core progressives out of the party.
“We left the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Accord and looking at the reality on ground, we decided to form an alliance with the ruling party in the state.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has performed excellently well at the helm of affairs with different developmental projects which cut across all the zones in the state.
“We’ll work together with the PDP to ensure we deliver our various polling units, wards and local governments to ensure Omituntun 2.0 comes to reality.”
Speaking on behalf of Governor Seyi Makinde, Otunba Seye Famojuro commended the forum for pledging their support for the governor’s re-election.
He assured that their demands will be presented to Governor Seyi Makinde but admonished members of the forum to ensure they mobilized their supporters to vote for PDP on Saturday.
Dignitaries at the meeting include, Dr Moronkola Thomas, Oloye Babatunde Ologburo, Hon Babatunde Tijani among others.
