Former Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Jonah Ogunniyi Otunla is dead

Otunla reportedly died while receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in the United Kingdom.

Otunla who was 69 on june 12 was in the UK for treatment of a yet-to-be disclosed ailment.

A family source disclosed that he died in the early hours of monday 17th june 2025

Otunla who served as board member of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) hailed from Oke Ogun area of Oyo state

He had his secondary education at Baptist High School, Saki where he obtained the West African School Certificate in 1972 before proceeding to University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Financial Accounting.

He became a chartered accountant in 1986 but received the fellowship of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in 1998.
He was Accountant General Of The Federation between 2011 and 2015
