
On Wednesday night at Yellow Chilli, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, Associates, Family members, Friends and Acquitances of Dr.Iyi Uwadiae, a former Registrar of West African Examination Council, WAEC converged to celebrate his 70Th Birthday, as they showered encomium him.
The first among the guests present, who praised Uwadiae on his birthday was Dr Fagbamila.
He described him as a boss, who gave his subordinates free hands to operate without compromising the ethics and work discipline at WAEC.
“His approach to WAEC’s welfare accounted for why I didn’t go out to work, I want to thank him for his support, he said.
Alhaji Maliki Adelowo described Uwadiae as good mentor, said he was a rare boss who made working environment suitable and enjoyable for mentees.
“As my boss, he was responsible for my international trip abroad.
“One day he called me, asking me to prepare to go to Singapore for official duty.This was surprising to me, a WAEC staff, who had never gone on any foreign trip before.
He did not only approve the Singapore trip, but also that of the transit through London.”
While, thanking him for all he contributed to his family’s upliftment, Adelowo prayed that Uwadiae and his family will continue to know and progress.
Mr Collins Uduh, another associate of the ex-waec registrar tagged him as his friend, brother and father, saying: “even though he was not old enough to be his father.”
High Chief Olutise Adenipekun, the Aro of Ere-Ijesa, who also served as WAEC of Lagos described the erstwhile registrar as “a boss, even in retirement.I have not distance myself from him.He is like a father to my children.”
He said he was happy to be present while being celebrated for his 70th birthday.
Also Mr Badmus Omorogie, a former Public Relation Officer (PRO) of WAEC, tagged him a good mentor.
” I was closed to him, he counseled me. I was receiving advice from him so that I don’t fall into pitfalls in the place.”
“I tried to know where wants to go to and where he doesn’t want me to go. It is a privilege to share thesame birthday date with him. I was embarrassed one day when he called me to wish me Happy Birthday.”
Ditto, Tessy Omoregie, wife of the former pro, spoke glowingly of husband former boss, while thanking for his fatherly love.
Mr Patrich Ehigiene described Uwadiae as a detriabalised Nigerian, who knows no ethnic boundary.
“Through him, I know that there men and there men. I also know that there kings and there kings . It was when I met Dr Uwadiae that I know the real meaning of the phrase.
“He has come to be our boss. He does not discriminate . He has become Mr Humility in WAEC. He is a great prophet . He prophesied something into my life and it came to past, ” he said .
