The Yobe State governor Hon Mai Mala Buni has within his stay in office succeeded in connecting 99 towns, villages, estates among other new settlements to the national grid,
The general manager of the state Rural Electrification Board, Engr. Umara Mustapha Goniri who disclosed this while highlighting the performance of governor Mai Mala Buni in the area of electricity supply said all of the 99 electrification projects awarded were completed fully.
The GM said apart from the electrification of towns and villages, the governor has also awarded and completed the rehabilitation of 56 11KV and 33KV lines spread across the state.
“His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State Hon. Mai Mala Buni has within his stay succeeded in connecting towns and villages some of which are local government headquarters that are living without electricity since creation, here I mean places like Bara, the headquarters of Gulani local government area.
“His Excellency also connected places like Sunsunma village, reactivation of Bayamari-Yunusari 33KV, electrification of Kasaisa village, Njibulwa village, electrification of Northern part of Waziri Ibrahim Estate, re-electrification of Shagari Estate and some part of Pawari and Dikumari in Damaturu the state capital.
“Others are the electrification of Damaturu-Gujba-Buni/Yadi-Buni/Gari, Ali Marami extension, electrification of Gashu’a road, Abbari/Unguwar karo to Sani Daura estate among many other places across the state,” Engr. Goniri said.
He further said the governor has also procured 30 transformer substations in addition to the provision of 20 heavy duty generating plants to the Yobe State Teaching Hospital, Specialists’ Hospitals among other important places in the state.
“His Excellecny has also sustained the supply of constant electricity supply to all the public hospitals through the provision of heavy duty generators and supply of diesels in case of power outage.”
The GM said the governor’s electrification projects equally torched government secondary and tertiary institutions as well as the reactivatated moribund industries in the state.
