Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Michael Awopetu, has attributed the 6-0 loss to Oluyole Warriors in the NPFL super 8 to injuries sustained by some of the key players in their first and second game
Awopetu who commended the players for a good performance said some of the players that are suppose to feature in the match have injuries and it affected their encounter with Oluyole Warriors on Saturday
In a video obtained from Ekiti United FC Facebook page Awopetu said “Even if 3sc will win, it will not be at this margin , we two games before and ,
it was draw, the first one was 0-0 and the second one was 1-1 so if not because of the unjury we would have been able to do something or even win the game
Some of the players are in the clinic, even are best goalkeep that save goals during our match with Bendel Insurance was not fit to keep, he got injured
He thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for the opportunities given to the boys and expresses optimism that next year the team will be in super 8 again and put in their best to win
While urging the fans not o be disappointed, Awopetu said this is the first experience in super 8, the super 8 is a different ball game its different from the leagues that we have played
and in football game anything can happened, what has happened has happened and i think the boys has ganered more experience which will help them in the subsequent matched
Sunday Afolabi, Chairman Ekiti United Supporters Club while corroborating the commissioner said the we came to Enugu with full determination to get promotion but injuries sustained by our players really affected our chances but we have the experience now and i am sure that by next year we get the promotion.
Afolabi and other supporters however appeal to stakeholders and well to do indigenes of the state to support the team
