The Ekiti State House of Assembly has commiserated with the people of Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State, the South-West and the entire nation on the demise of General Adeyinka Adebayo, declaring it as a colossal loss to the country.
In a statement by the Chairman of the House Commiittee on Information, Youths and Sports Development, Honourable (Dr) Samuel Babajide Omotoso, the Speaker of the House, Pastor Kola Oluwawole, said the death of General Adebayo marked the end of a glorious era for the country.
”We just lost one of the leading lights in the South-West. The late General Adebayo was a courageous and dependable soldier who dedicated his life to the course of our great nation. He was an illustrious son of Ekiti State. He was an elder statesman whose counsel would be missed at this crucial time in the history of our nation.
“We in the Ekiti State House of Assembly feel the pain of the demise of the illustrious son of Yoruba land. We commiserate with the people of Iyin-Ekiti where hails from. He shall continue to be celebrated even in death,” the statement read.
Oluwawole added that the role of the late General Adebayo in the unity of South-West and the creation of Ekiti State could not be underestimated, declaring that the House of Assembly would sorely miss the elderestatesman.
