In the spirit of Eid-el-kabir celebration, the Executive Chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Igboho, Hon. Akeem Adepoju Raheem, distributed rams to the Muslim Ummah in his council.
Other items distributed include bags of rice, yam flour, spaghetti, vegetable oil and cash gifts worth millions of Naira.
A number of political leaders, youth groups, community leaders, among others, benefited from the gesture.
The Council Chairman, who noted that the donation was aimed at making the residents have a joyful and fun-filled Eid-el-Kabir, explained that the gesture was in line with the commitment of the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration’s determination to always put smiles on the faces of the people.
Similarly, while felicitating with the Muslims, he urged the good people of his local government to use the festive season to pray for the success of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde and a better Nigeria.
He said: “First, I like to felicitate all my Muslim brothers and sisters and pray that the Almighty Allah will accept our efforts as act of Ibadah.
“I am aware that, in the spirit of the festivity, there is a need for our people to have a joyful and fun-filled celebration despite the challenges we are all faced with as a state and nation. As a result, in following the tradition of our leader, His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, we have distributed rams, rice and have also given cash gifts to party chieftains and members and the physically-challenged.
“Actually, we are aware that that the efforts cannot reach everyone, it was just a token done in demonstration of our commitment to catering for the welfare of our people.
“Let me equally use this opportunity to urge our people to pray for the second term of the governor, which has started on a good note. Let us all intensify our prayers to ensure the continuity of good governance in the state and for him to finish strong.”
