Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, has extended warm greetings to Muslims across the state and beyond as they join the global Muslim community in celebrating the 2025 Eid-el-Kabir festival.
In a message signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Governor Makinde urged the Muslim Ummah to use the occasion as a time for renewed prayers and reflection, particularly for the progress of Oyo State, Nigeria, and its leadership.
Describing Eid-el-Kabir, also known as Eid Adha, as a sacred and meaningful festival that symbolizes devotion and sacrifice, the governor prayed that God accepts the acts of worship and sacrifices made by the faithful.
“I want to congratulate my Muslim brothers and sisters in Oyo State and across the world on witnessing the Eid-el-Kabir 2025,” the governor said.
“The Eid Adha is one glorious festival and an opportunity for Muslim faithful to demonstrate their dedication to God through prayers and sacrifice.”
Governor Makinde expressed appreciation to the Muslim community in Oyo State for their consistent support and prayers for his administration, which recently entered its seventh year.
He reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare and interests of the people of the state, noting that his administration has delivered six years of accelerated and sustainable development.
“I admonish them to continue to pray for their government, which has served them for six years, and to continue to support us,” he stated. “Let me also add that our government—their government—will continue to put the interests of the people of the state first.”
As part of his message, the governor also called for increased vigilance during the festive period, encouraging residents to remain security-conscious.
“Security is a responsibility for everyone. If anyone sees something, they should say something, and the government will do something,” he added.
Governor Makinde concluded his message with warm wishes for a peaceful and joyful celebration.
“Barka de Sallah,” he said.
