The Director-General of the Oyo State Mobilization Agency for Socio-Economic Development (OYMASED), Dr. Morohunkola Thomas, has extended his felicitations to the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration.
In his Sallah message, Dr. Thomas urged Muslims to uphold the lessons of Ramadan by continuing in acts of charity, peaceful coexistence, and adherence to the teachings of the Holy Quran. He also emphasized the importance of prayers for peace in Oyo State and the nation.
The OYMASED DG called for caution during the celebrations, stressing that the state government maintains a zero-tolerance policy on indiscipline, crowd mismanagement, youth crime, and drug abuse.
“We should celebrate with caution,” he said, urging residents to prioritize safety and responsibility during the festivities.
Dr. Thomas also addressed security concerns in Oyo Township, Ogbomoso, Ibarapa, and parts of Ibadan, noting that criminal activities such as banditry and other forms of insecurity could be curbed if residents embraced harmony and looked out for one another.
He commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for prioritizing security, which, according to him, has significantly contributed to the state’s economic growth and the thriving of businesses.
The DG further urged the public to remain security-conscious and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities, both during and after the Eid celebrations.
