The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has disassociated itself from multiple fraudulent TikTok accounts using its name and logo to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
In a press statement signed by its Head of Media & Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the commission revealed that on Thursday, February 27, 2025, some fraudsters organized a live session on TikTok, falsely representing the EFCC. The impostors used six fake accounts with names such as “EFCC of Nigeria,” “EFCC Lagos,” “EFCC Delta,” “EFCC of Benin,” “EFCC of Jos,” and “EFCC Saga.”
The anti-graft agency categorically stated that it does not operate any TikTok account and warned the public to disregard any platform bearing its insignia.
The EFCC’s statement comes amid increasing concerns over online fraud, as scammers continue to exploit social media platforms to impersonate government agencies and defraud unsuspecting victims.
The commission has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activities claiming to be affiliated with the EFCC.
