The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational breakthroughs across Asaba and its environs, with the arrest of suspected armed robbers, cultists, and a drug peddler, as well as the recovery of firearms and a large quantity of illicit drugs.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, the coordinated intelligence-led operations were carried out by operatives of the ‘B’ Division, Asaba, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), and the Eagle Net Special Squad (ENSS).
On October 1, 2025, officers from the ‘B’ Division, led by Divisional Police Officer CSP Edewor Akponegware, responded to a distress call about an armed robbery around the BONSAAC area of Asaba. The suspects, who had attacked a female victim and dispossessed her of valuables, were tracked down through a swift operation carried out in conjunction with local vigilantes.
One of the suspects, identified as Amara Nwako, 21, from Oko community, was arrested, while his accomplice escaped into an uncompleted building. A locally made pistol was recovered from the scene. Police investigations revealed that the suspect is linked to the Arobaga secret cult.
In another operation on October 2, 2025, operatives of the Eagle Net Special Squad, led by SP Danyaya Yunusa, intercepted a truck with registration number 3BGT 18LG in Asaba. The truck, driven by Dennis Uruma, 52, of Igalamela Local Government Area of Kogi State, was found to be conveying large quantities of suspected illicit drugs. The driver was immediately arrested, and the counting and measurement of the exhibits are ongoing.
Similarly, on October 3, 2025, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by Commander CSP Nosa Alex, raided a suspected criminal hideout around the Basket Market area of Asaba based on credible intelligence. Three suspects — Rabbi Godwin (25), Lucky Nanakumo (20), and David Igwe (19) — were arrested during the operation. A fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered at the scene.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, commended the operatives for their professionalism and renewed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against violent crimes, cultism, and drug trafficking in the state.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible information that can assist the police in curbing criminal activities across Delta State.
