The Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission has announced the death of its Head of Programmes, Mr. Abiodun Oladipo, who passed away at the age of 44 after a brief illness.
In a statement released by the commission, Oladipo died on April 9 2026. Born on January 2, 1982, he joined the DAWN Commission in 2016 and played a significant role in advancing the organisation’s regional integration agenda across the South-West.
According to the statement, Oladipo was instrumental in strengthening collaboration among the six South-West states, frequently travelling across the region to build partnerships and promote initiatives aimed at fostering regional development.
“Biodun was pivotal to DAWN Commission’s regional integration agenda. He tirelessly crisscrossed the six South-West states, forging connections and building bridges that advanced our collective vision for regional integration and development,” the statement read.
The commission described him as a committed professional and mentor whose impact extended beyond his official duties.
“Beyond his professional contributions, Biodun was deeply admirable and served as a mentor to many of us. His guidance, warmth and unwavering commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working with him,” it added.
The management expressed deep sorrow over his passing, noting that his death is a significant loss to the organisation and the regional development community.
They also extended condolences to his family and loved ones, stating that he would be laid to rest in a private burial ceremony in accordance with the family’s wishes.
“May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
