The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that 286,697 applicants have been shortlisted to participate in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) phase of its ongoing recruitment exercise.
The exercise, which began with an official advertisement on December 27, 2024, declared 3,927 vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres. According to the Service, a total of 573,523 applications were received before the list was pruned down after a rigorous document screening.
The CBT is scheduled to hold between September 14 and 21, 2025, and will be conducted online. Candidates are expected to use either a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and full-screen display, as the application is not mobile-enabled. Facial verification will also be required during login.
The NCS cautioned candidates against distractions, excessive movement, or background noise during the test, as the system may automatically log out participants or flag cases of malpractice such as switching between windows.
To ensure smooth participation, the Service has arranged a mandatory pre-test exercise, two days before the main CBT, to help applicants familiarise themselves with the process. Separate links will be sent to shortlisted candidates for the pre-test and the examination.
It further explained that candidates applying for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) will take an additional CBT in the next phase, while this does not apply to those in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres.
National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, reassured applicants that the recruitment remains transparent and merit-driven. He advised candidates to rely only on official communication channels for updates, stressing that the NCS would not request payment or conduct recruitment activities through social media.
