Civil Society Action Coalition On Education For All (CSACEFA), Oyo State chapter has said there is need for her involvement in the participatory monitoring of the FGN -UBEC
intervention projects in the State,
The coalition also called for rescucitation of Education Trust Fund to enable private individuals and organizations contribute to the development of education in the state.
This was part of the position of the civil society group at a media parley on the state of basic education in Oyo state held at Educare Trust, Samonda, Ibadan.
Dr Oluwabukola Olatunji, the state cordinator while presenting the findings said If the Education Trust Fund is in place there would have been increase in the number of enrolment of out of school children in the state.
On FGN/State Homegrown School Feeding Program, of which kicked off in 2018 , CSACEFA said the exercise was stopped because Oyo State didn’t pay its counterpart funds to the program which only benefitted primary school pupils from primary one to primary three, leaving the upper classes.
He also harped on the need for involvement of relevant organization in the participatory monitoring of FG-UBEC intervention projects so that they would not just been an observer during the bidding opening exercise.
The state coordinator added that the increase in budgetary allocation to 21percent is to enable the state governments have access to GPE 2 grants under a program which is Partnership for Education 2, a 4 year (2020-2024) funded Education Development Assistance (EDA) to support Federal and State systems.
Olatunji however lamented that Better Education Service Delivery for All (BEDSA), a World Bank assisted project aimed at bringing the out of school children back to school is not yielding expected results and efforts to monitor the activities proved abortive
On COVID -19 the coalition noted said the government in collaboration with the CSOs must intensify its efforts in curtailing the spread of this virus anywhere and everywhere and plan ahead against the possibility of the second wave of this pandemic.
