CRC Femi Adeyemo, pjsc, MDMSS, has rounded off his tenure as the pioneer Acting Unit Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS11.312 Oolo Unit Command, after two years and two months of service, presenting an impressive scorecard of achievements.
The Oolo Unit Command, situated along the busy Oyo–Ogbomoso expressway, was established to enhance road safety management and traffic administration on the transit corridor. Adeyemo, who was redeployed to RS2.1 Lagos Sector Command as the State Transport Standardization Officer for fleet management, handed over to ACC OO Odewo, formerly SPEO, RS11.3 Oyo.
Despite daunting challenges such as lack of a tow truck, poor staff strength, insecurity, absence of a standard hospital, and environmental difficulties, Adeyemo led the command to significant strides. His leadership fostered teamwork, innovation, and community engagement to mitigate the challenges and improve operations.
Among his notable achievements were the construction of a sentry post, quarter guard, entrance gate, barricade, and rehabilitation of a collapsed office fence. The command also created alternative routes linking the old and new Oyo–Ogbomoso roads to ease gridlock, established pioneer Special Marshals, improved crash response, facilitated town hall meetings with community leaders, and embarked on house-to-house campaigns against fuel scooping from fallen tankers.
The command secured equipment including four CUG phones, a printer, a desktop computer, a generator, and solar security lights. It also recorded over 20 online publications, organized capacity-building programmes, and won the 2024 Best Command Award for Report Rendition from RS11.3 Oyo Sector Command.
In his valedictory remarks, Adeyemo appreciated the FRSC Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, for the opportunity to serve, noting that the experience broadened his leadership capacity, particularly in managing corridors with high traffic volume.
He stressed that the achievements of the Oolo Unit Command within its short existence align with the FRSC corporate goals and contribute to the United Nations Decade of Action for Road Safety.
