The Construction Professionals Association Local Content Group (CPALCG) has expressed strong support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s prioritization of local contractors in ongoing road projects throughout Oyo State, countering recent criticism from the socio-political group, Good Legacy, regarding project quality.

In a statement released by CPALCG spokesman, Engr. Jide Adeyemo and made available to newsmen in Ibadan on Tuesday, the association praised Governor Makinde’s dedication to bolstering local talent and empowering local contractors, a practice they argued was overlooked by the previous administration.

According to CPALCG, this approach not only strengthens the local economy but also ensures that contractors who understand the state’s specific infrastructural needs are directly involved in delivering sustainable projects.

“We commend Governor Makinde for placing trust in Oyo’s own contractors, promoting growth within the community, and creating job opportunities.

Unlike prior administrations, which often overlooked local expertise, this administration’s focus on local content sets a new standard,” CPALCG’s statement read.

The group urged the governor to stay focused on his development agenda and not be swayed by criticisms from opposing voices, particularly from groups with affiliations to the APC.

CPALCG also emphasized that Oyo residents deserve to see the impact of local talent and ingenuity in their infrastructure, advocating that all projects under Governor Makinde’s leadership are held to high standards and executed with long-term functionality in mind.

CPALCG’s statement comes in response to recent comments from Good Legacy, which questioned the durability of some infrastructure projects.

However, CPALCG maintained that Governor Makinde’s commitment to transparency and quality control in all projects, particularly road constructions, will ultimately benefit Oyo residents and leave a lasting legacy for the state.
