Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to Oyo governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has cleared air over romour making round that the son of former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, attended the Ibadan PDP rally.
In a chat with National Insight on phone, the governor’s aide sympathised with the family of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, concerning the infection of one of his sons by Coronavirus.
On Sunday night former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar said one of his sons had tested positive for Covid19.
Atiku, who was the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the last election, said this in a tweet on Sunday night.
The former Vice-President said his son had been moved to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada.
He tweeted, “My son has tested positive to coronavirus. @NCDCGov has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management.
“I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real.” He concluded
But the CPS said a different member of the Atiku family is the person infected and not the one who attended the Ibadan event.
The message reads below:
“IMPORTANT NOTICE!!!
While we sympathise with the family of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, concerning the infection of one of his sons by Coronavirus.
We want to place on record for the notice of the general public that the information suggesting that the said son of @atiku was the same person that represented him at the South West PDP unification rally in Ibadan, Oyo state is false.
We have since confirmed that a different member of the Atiku family is the person so infected.
The public should please ignore such unfounded rumour.
Thanks
