A Kano High Court sitting in Miller Road has sentenced a Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong to dead by hanging for killing his girlfriend in Kano in 2022.
Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji in a ruling on Tuesday said the accused was found guilty of the offence, and then convicted and sentenced to him to death by hanging till he breaths his last.
Geng-Quangrong was arrested and remanded by the police for culpable homicide in September 2022 over the murder of his 22 year old girlfriend Ummukulsum Buhari, at her residence in Janbulo quarters, Kumbotso LGA of Kano.
Prosecution stated that the offence contravened the provision of Section 221(b) of the Penal Code Law
Narrating why he killed her, the accused said he love her and has spent over N60million Naira on her because she promised to marry her but she provoked her by marrying another man after spending so much on her
“I transferred over N60 million to her GT Bank account, N18 million for her to start a business, N4 million house and N6 million for University education among others.”Whenever I go to pick her up for dinner at home her mum always welcomes me with open arms,” he said
