Communication Minister Barrister Adebayo Shittu on Tuesday commissioned two ICT centres and 3 motorized borehole in Saki.
The ICT centers which were projects of Universal Service Provision Fund ,(USPF) an agency under the ministry of communication were cited at The Oke Ogun Polythenic Saki and Saki Parapo community Grammar School.
Speaking with press after the commissioning of the program, Barrister Shittu , he facilitated the ICT centres to enhance and boost the knowledge of the youth in the ICT worlds which is a good alternative source of economy.
‘ICT is one of the major solution to the economic problem we are facing in the country, it has a lot of potentials that can be used to develop economy and I am sure young children and students will gain a lot from this .‘
The minister while commissioning borehole at Kinikini said the essence is to make water available for people and promise to replicate the projects I the 33 local governments in Oyo state.
Senator Abiola Ajimobi , the executive governor of Oyo state and former Registrar of National Examination Council, NECO, professor Dibu Ojerinde, commended the Minister for his initiatives and urges other privilege peole in the society to emulate the gesture
Ajimobi who was represented by the state commissioner for Education, Professor Jospeh Olowofela reiterated government’s commitment to the development of education in the state though implementation of some policies which include the inauguration of the School Governing Board, engaging retired principals and teachers to impact knowledge on the young ones and making use of feedback mechanism for monitoring of students activities by their parents.
Earlier in his address, the Rector of The Polythecnic Saki, Mr Oladeji Olaniyi commended Barrister Shittu for influencing the construction of 150 ICT Capacity for the institute , adding that “This will go a long way in solving information technology related problems in Saki”
“The completion of these projects will give opportunity if writing UTME to JAMB candidates”
