The Oyo State branch of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), on Tuesday, inaugurated the Registrar of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Dr. Kayode Ogunleye, as Chairman of Ogbomoso chapter of the institute.
Others inaugurated included Mr. Abimbola A. Adebayo, General Sectetary; Mrs. Oluwatoyin Odiase, Treasurer; and Mr. Oluwabusayo Oladejo, a fellow of CIPM, as ex-Officio.
Performing the inauguration at a colourful event held at the Senate Chamber of LAUTECH and attended by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rasaq Olatunde ROM Kalilu, and University Librarian, Dr. Modupe Aboyade, the Oyo State branch chairperson, Mr Omolara Onipede, charged the executives and members to uphold the code of conduct of the institute in their different work places.
Mrs. Onipede said, “It is our intention to create forum discussion of matters concerning human nature; to improve the general level of human resources management education by organising lectures, debates, workshops, seminars, case studies and by publication and distribution of appropriate literature and such other activities that will enhance the realisation of the aims and objectives of the Institute.
“This inauguration is a significant expression of CIPM’s presence in Ogbomoso and we are excited that the Institute is closer to the community.
“The institute is committed to developing exceptional values through people and this translates to positive Impact on our Organisation and the nation at large.”
She, therefore, called on members of the public, particularly those in human resources and administration to register with the institute.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the protem chairman of the chapter and Registrar of LAUTECH, Dr. Ogunleye, promised to enlarge the institute in Ogbomoso and beyond.
Ogunleye, who was also a one-time Registrar at Bowen University, Iwo, expressed his thanks to CIPM; LAUTECH Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rasaq Olatunde ROM Kalilu; other Principal Officers.
He particularly lauded the contributions of Prof. Kalilu to the success of the programme.
Ogunleye said, “I count it a big privilege and honour to be chosen as protem chairman of the Ogbomoso chapter. I am grateful to the Oyo State branch and the national headquarters of CIPM and my colleagues for the opportunity to serve. My colleagues and I promise to do our best to serve the CIPM dilligently.
“We also promise to uphold the objectives and goals of CIPM.
“Part of our immediate plan is to grow the institute and create awareness, especially in LAUTECH, and to organise a programme whereby the headquarters will come and join us to formally introduce CIPM to staff and students of LAUTECH, especially in the Faculties of Management Sciences as well as Arts and Humanities. We hope this will be noted for immediate action.
“Once again, thanks for the privilege and the opportunity given us to serve.”
