The Oluoke of Oke-Igbo Kingdom, Oba Akintoye Adeoye, has conferred the chieftaincy title of Iyalode of Okeigbo Kingdom on Mrs. Funmilola Ademoyegun, described as an astute community developer, retired health professional, and seasoned grassroots mobilizer.
Okeigbo is a town and a principal part of the Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area (LGA) in Ondo State, southwest , Nigeria.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director-General, Media and Communications, Temitope Olatunji, the appointment was made in recognition of Mrs. Ademoyegun’s exemplary service, immense contributions, and unwavering commitment to the socio-economic and cultural development of Okeigbo land. The revered title positions her as a leading female figure and custodian of women’s interests within the community.
According to the statement, the new Iyalode will be responsible for mobilizing and representing women in Okeigbo, as well as offering counsel to the kingdom on issues concerning women’s welfare and development.
Mrs. Ademoyegun, a retired Matron, also holds the title of Yeye Aṣa Gbogbo Agbaye, conferred by the Igbimo Iyun Agbaye. A notable political mobilizer, she has played various roles within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and previously served in key positions under past administrations.
She was once the Senior Special Adviser to former Governor Dr Olusegun Mimiko on Primary Healthcare and also served as Chairman of the Ondo State Neighbourhood Market. In addition, she completed a tenure as the Southern Senatorial Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
