Executive members of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) have paid a congratulatory visit to the new Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Senator) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
Oba Ladoja, who was recently nominated by the Ibadan kingmakers and approved by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, received the CCII delegation at his Bodija residence on Tuesday.
The delegation was led by the CCII President-General, Chief (Barrister) Sulaimon Adeniyi Ajewole, the Aare Atunluse of Ibadanland.
Warmly welcoming the visitors, Oba Ladoja expressed his appreciation to CCII executives and all sons and daughters of Ibadan at home and abroad for their loyalty and support.
According to him, the visit symbolised unity and collaboration to jointly move Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria to greater heights.
“I know the needs of my people, and I am fully prepared, God willing, to address them. I will give priority attention to peaceful coexistence, unity, economic emancipation, religious tolerance, and the promotion and preservation of Ibadan’s cultural heritage,” the monarch assured.
In his remarks, Ajewole congratulated Oba Ladoja on his enthronement, describing it as a source of joy for indigenes of Ibadanland.
“We are happy to see you hale and hearty to take the mantle of Ibadan’s traditional leadership at a time people are yearning for a leader who will improve their standard of living. The choice of Senator Ladoja is well deserved by law, tradition, character, and mental capacity,” he said.
Ajewole added that CCII, as the umbrella body of all socio-cultural groups of Ibadanland both at home and abroad, remains committed to unity, security, and the overall development of Ibadanland.
