President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the extension of the tenure of the the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Mohammed Adamu by three months.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, announced this on Thursday while briefing reporters at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Adamu who is the 20th IGP resumes on January 15 2019 and retire on February 1
Before his appointment as Inspector General of Police, he was an Assistant Inspector-General of Police in Benin City, Edo State and was responsible for the overall management and operations of the NPF Zone 5, comprising Bayelsa, Delta and Edo State police commands.
With the new development, Adamu will continue as IGP for the next three months
He said that the decision of the President to extend the IGP’s tenure for another three months was to give time for proper selection of the new helmsman.
