Brave 91.1 FM, a leading community radio station based in Igbo-Ile, Ogbomoso, marked its third anniversary on Friday, July 4, 2025, with a colourful celebration that included the presentation of awards to seven distinguished personalities who have significantly supported the station since its inception.
Speaking on behalf of the station’s management during the event, the General Manager and veteran broadcaster, Ambassador Sanjo Saka Fẹlẹfẹlẹ, stated that the award presentation was part of activities lined up to commemorate the milestone. He described the honourees as “carefully selected individuals and brands whose consistent support and engagement have contributed to the station’s growth and community impact.”
Award recipients included:
- Hon. Oluwaseun Ojo, Executive Chairman, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area – awarded as Best Chairman for his dedication to community engagement and local governance.
- Alhaji Rasaq Tunde Omilani of Tundex Mega – honoured as Customer of the Year for his unwavering patronage.
- Owonikoko Plastic Store – recognized as a Brand Supporter for its outstanding support to the station.
- Comrade Jimoh Aderemi, Chairman of Park Management Service (PMS), Ogbomoso zone – awarded for Responsive Trade Service, particularly in media collaboration and community outreach.
- Prophetess Funmilayo Akinloye (Ayelowa) – honoured for her spiritual contributions and societal impact.
- Rev’d Niyi Adebayo of True Worshippers Church – recognized for faith-based leadership and community development.
- Dr. Sarafadeen Gbadebo Raji of Al-Medinah Islamic Centre – awarded for his dedication to interfaith harmony and educational empowerment.
Ambassador Saka emphasized that Brave 91.1 FM, which officially began broadcasting on July 4, 2022, has continued to distinguish itself through high-quality programming that addresses social, cultural, and developmental issues affecting the grassroots. The station, he said, remains one of the most listened-to in Oyo State due to its commitment to professionalism and inclusiveness.
He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the station’s Chairperson, Yeyeluwa Oluwatoyin Odebunmi, describing her as a pillar of strength and a visionary leader.
“Our distinguished chairperson, Yeyeluwa Oluwatoyin Odebunmi, has been instrumental to the breakthroughs we continue to experience. Her leadership from the outset has been exemplary, and we are deeply grateful,” Saka remarked.
As a registered practitioner with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), Saka pledged that Brave FM would continue to uphold global best practices while giving voice to the under-reported and underserved members of the society.
“We remain committed to community broadcasting and ensuring our platform serves as a bridge between policy, development, and the people,” he concluded.
The anniversary event was attended by community leaders, media professionals, loyal listeners, and friends of the station, all celebrating the growing influence of Brave FM in shaping public discourse in Ogbomoso and beyond.
