Borno Govt. Demolishes Dog Abattoir, Illegal Liquor Shop, Shanties in Maiduguri

Borno Geographic Information Services (BOGIS) on Thursday began the demolition of criminal hideouts, brothel and illegal house were the trade in illegal substances in the state.

The clampdown on illegal businesses in unauthorized location was carried out in conjunction with security agencies.

During the operation, a dog abattoir and seller of alcohol including illegal substances were found in the area.

The Executive Secretary said the amended law of Borno state disallowed the sells of alcohol within Maiduguri metropolitan only in places like Army, Police, Correctional barracks etc.

Engr Adam bababe also added that public structure will be constructed within the area with immediate effect, call on citizens to assist the government in achieving it policy and develop the state.

It could be recalled that in 2019 , a committee set up by the state government including Engr Bababe revisited the place and directed evacuation but the people return and continue their illegal businesses
