Bishop Felix Owolabi International School has emerged as the winner of the Abiola Patrick Public Speaking Competition 4.0, held at Lead British International School, Osogbo, Osun State.

The event, which brought together students from five competing schools—Government Technical College Osogbo, Christ African Church Grammar School, Lead British International School, Ataoja School of Science, and Bishop Felix Owolabi International School—focused on the theme: “Building Bridges, Not Walls: The Role of Education in Promoting Global Peace.”

Dignitaries present included representatives from JCI Nigeria, with key figures such as JCI Nigeria Executive Vice President for Southwest, JCIN Ambassador Akinbode Abitogun; Director of Programs and Projects JCI Nigeria Southwest, JCIN Ambassador Babatunde Odunaya; and JCI Osogbo Elite President, Tadenikawo Ipoola. The competition was chaired by Akinkuebi Oluwabusayomi, with Habeebullah A. Oyekola as co-chair, while Abiola Patrick, the event’s convener, led the proceedings with Timilehin Fawole as moderator.

A distinguished panel of judges, including Chief Judge Ayo Ologun, Ibukunoluwa Otesile, Mayowa Abiola, and Awotunde Omotola Mariam, evaluated the participants’ speeches. Their insights and feedback provided valuable learning experiences for the contestants.

Celebrating Women’s Empowerment

In honor of International Women’s Day, Judge Ibukunoluwa Otesile encouraged female students to strive for excellence, break barriers, and become agents of positive change. She also called on boys and men to actively support gender equality, emphasizing that the movement is a collective responsibility.

After a competitive round of speeches, Bishop Felix Owolabi International School claimed the first position, showcasing outstanding public speaking skills and deep understanding of the topic. Lead British International School secured second place, while Ataoja School of Science took the third position.

The competition provided a valuable platform for students to express their ideas on promoting global peace through education. Convener Abiola Patrick highlighted the importance of public speaking skills in leadership, sharing how it has shaped his personal and professional journey. He expressed joy at the success of the fourth edition and promised greater impact in the coming years.

JCI Osogbo Elite President, Tadenikawo Ipoola, commended all participants and encouraged them to continue honing their public speaking skills. Certificates of attendance were presented to all participants, marking another successful edition of the Abiola Patrick Public Speaking Competition.
