
The new President of Atlético Berja FC, Chief (Engr.) Dotun Sanusi, Okanlomo Oodua, and members of his Board have been officially received by the Mayor (Alcalde-Presidente) of Berja, José Carlos Lupión Mena, at a colourful ceremony held at the Mayor’s Palace in Spain.
The event marked a significant diplomatic and business engagement between the Spanish city and Nigerian interests, as Mayor Lupión Mena warmly welcomed Sanusi and his delegation, expressing the city’s readiness for immediate collaboration with the Ilaji Group.
According to the Mayor, the proposed partnership will span key sectors including sports, entertainment, hospitality and agriculture, with a focus on delivering measurable cross-country benefits.
He stressed that the collaboration is designed to foster economic growth and cultural exchange between Berja, Nigeria and Malta.
Sanusi, who recently assumed leadership of the Spanish football club, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening international ties through strategic investments and institutional partnerships.
He noted that sports remain a powerful vehicle for economic diplomacy and youth development.
Details of the strategic collaboration are currently being streamlined into various Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), which are scheduled to be formally signed tomorrow
