The week long activities marking the 40th anniversary celebration of the Nigeria Beauticians and Hairdressers Association (NBHA), Oyo state came to an end with the grand finale held at stadium, Ibadan yesterday amid funfare.
While welcoming the guests to the occasion, the Founder of the NBHA, Chief Mrs Olubunmi Adesanya (Iyaloja Adelabu market) further reiterated the support of the association for the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde.
It would be recalled that the association had last week staged a solidarity rally to the Governor’s office, Secretariat, Ibadan to demonstrate their support for the Governor.
The rally which made the whole Agodi Secretariat premises to be stood still for over three hours owing to the large crowd of members of the association that participated was part of the activities lined up for the 40th anniversary celebration.
Chief Mrs. Olubunmi Adesanya who led the rally, commended the Makinde government for its good work in the state, noting that their businesses have benefited positively from the prompt payment of salaries and other policies.
She maintained that the policies of the Makinde administration have made life more meaningful for traders and the people of the state.
They were received by top government appointees which included the Commissioners for Investment, Trade and Industries, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Hon. Wasiu Olatubosun Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism among others.
Speaking yesterday at the grand finale, Chief Mrs Olubunmi Adesanya reassured Governor Makinde of her association’s support with over 500,000 members that spread across the 33 local government area in the State, Governor Makinde is sure of overwhelming victory in the 2023 general elections.
She said the association which was formed in April, 1981 has succeeded in helping some members to set up their own salon, building a house for the association among achievements.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Culture and Tourism, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige said the association has become a role model that other artisans, tradesmen and groups are looking up to because of the ways they have been coordinating and organizing their programmes.
Ige who is the association’s Life Patron disclosed that Engr Seyi Makinde led administration will not take the support the association has been given it for granted.
He, however, enjoined leaders of the association to accommodate other splinter groups within themselves so as to enjoy the government’s support together.
The high points of anniversary celebration was hair/fashion parade, cultural parade, dance competition and crowning of the winner of the best stylish of the year.
Others dignitaries that graced the grand finale include the Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Wasiu Olatubosun, Hon. Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu, Hon. Bolaji Badmos, the Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaji Y.K. Abass, and representatives of various associations in the State.
