The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed a robbery incident that occurred on Monday morning along Secretariat Road, Agodi, Ibadan.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Osifeso Adewale, the attack took place around 8:00 a.m. when a bank depositor driving a metallic grey Nissan Primera with registration number EPE 901 PS was trailed and dispossessed of a yet-to-be-determined amount of cash by armed robbers.

According to the police, a patrol team responding to the distress call engaged the assailants in a gun duel during which one officer sustained serious injuries. The injured officer is said to be receiving medical attention at a secure healthcare facility, while no deaths have been recorded in connection with the attack.

“The Oyo State Police Command seeks to inform the public about a robbery that occurred along Secretariat Road, Agodi, during which an officer sustained severe injuries while engaging the suspects. Fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities,” CSP Osifeso said.

He added that the Command has commenced a full-scale investigation into the incident with the aim of apprehending the perpetrators and recovering the stolen funds.

CSP Osifeso also called on members of the public to provide useful and timely information that could assist the police in their ongoing investigation.

He assured residents that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state, emphasizing that adequate security measures have been reinforced to forestall further criminal activities.
