The recent raiding of the hideout of notorious “Badoo” cult group that have been terrorizing Ikorodu and its environs leaving several dead have been commended.
The commendation came from a group South West Think Tank. According to the group’s Director of Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Davies, the joint action of Lagos Police Command including RRS,Mopol Unit,OPC led by Otunba Gani Adams and other vigilante groups will no doubt put an end to the reign of terror which the “Badoo Group” have subjected the residents to.
We commend the collaboration of Lagos Police Command,OPC and other stake holders in bringing to an end this barbaric act which have led to loss of lives, insecurity and mass exodus from Ikorodu as residents relocated from their homes for fear of attack from the group.
No doubt efforts like this will help in reducing the menace of crime and other social vices which seems to have increased due to poverty and reckless desire to become rich. We wish to encourage such collaboration in future and suggest to other South West states governors that they emulate this novel joint action and adopt similar strategy in their states to confront several security challenges they are facing which include but not limited to the menace of Fulani Herdsmen whose cattle graze our farmlands recklessly.
SWETT as a body join in the clamor for Nigeria’s restruction and regional autonomy. Under this arrangement, Nigeria should be divided into 6 geo-political zones with each zone having its own regional police and state police. State police will be more alive to its environment and will be able to identify hot spots of criminals and quell their activities since they won’t want their people and families to be affected by activities of social miscreants. Policing Nigeria will now be in 3 layers, Federal, Regional and State.
Under a restructured Nigeria, not only will we have improved security, we will also have improvements in the areas of economy, social development, tourism and general improvement in the welfare of citizens.Regions and member states will develop at their own pace and have control over its natural resources.
We call on South West indigenes to be proactive in their environment and give useful informations to security agencies about criminal acts and other vices going on in their environment. Citizen Police is the best form of local policing, we should not take laws into our hands.
